Project 0: Making Bassy Lekker

Lekker Bassy’g is a Project of freedom, getting there and helping others reach it. Im Bas, but my good friends know me as bassy. I’ve travelled the world, having a sense of freedom.

What is freedom?

freedom is the ability to do what you imagine.

How did we get to the moon? How did we got to fly? How did we manage to create this modern society. By the imagination of many people, who thought it was possible. Of many, these projects where thought to be impossible, unachievable and delusional, yet they came to life because someone thought it was possible.

An if I would like to get there. The only way I can go there is by building my own imagination and make it happen.

What’s in my imagination?

I imagine a world where we know our neighbours by name, we interact with each other and we help each other out. I Imagine a world where no-one is wasting their imagination on endless, soulless content. Where people dare to be outside and focus on their own world and not the ones of other, this way eventually sharing it with others. Right now I’m still in my own world alone but by achieving this I can share my world with more people and help others create theirs.

My experience so far?

While doing my studies in Hotelschool I never felt that the industry was doing what I thought was true hospitality. Which is a care beyond any compensation expected, is a service you provide every day, and you do it because the one that gets the most out of it is yourself, being serviceable is the most rewarding value out of all, because it makes everyone happy. As the author of “un-reasonable Hospitality puts it”…(quote here).

Many of my closest friends had a similar view on it. We decided to do something about it. We started creating immersive experiences, that where all of the times free of charge or fairly priced, we never had an ambition to get anything in return but just enough to keep it going. We created worlds, we changed the narrative of places. Making a Hair salon a full on curated party venue. a garden into a magical gnome experience and a warehouse into the basement of the teenage ninja turtles. Although I’m really proud of this projects. The thing that I was more proud of is seeing what happened afterwards. Where people started creating this worlds aswel, getting inspired for what was possible and achieving their worlds and sharing it to other people.

Now I’m in a different city, with new opportunities to create my world again! Im excited to see whats possible.

My first steps towards freedom.

Why do I want freedom?

We are truly capable of anything, its just a matter of how long can you keep the idea going, even if its against everything, can you keep that idea going? Still I couldn't focus on my ideas because every time I tried, I would either achieve it and give up too it or never reach it and focus on a new one. I was young and well taken care of so my commodity made me prisoner of my dreams. I never wanted anything bad enough, but now I've grown and I can’t settle to see the world like this. I can’t settle for spending another damn minute in my phone thinking what am I doing? is this everything there is? I can’t settle for my world as it is, because im not free. I’m prisoner of my situation, where I dont want to work for a corparte company and be a number but I need money to survive. I want to go out and develop the public space but Im a slave of my phone and devices. I want to travel but I cant because I dont have the resources to do so. So this is it, the solution for myself How to be free…
